No experience necessary! Collectors welcome.
Start from the beginning, as Debra teaches you step by step about setting-up the easel, design and composition, the color wheel, the palette, how to hold the brush to apply paint and mixing with the palette knife. “Paint Along” together one step at a time. This is a wonderful class for beginning painters, collectors, or anyone who loves art. The workshop will take place indoors in a very comfortable setting and is FUN! You can do it!
Each participant will go home with a small framed completed painting or three!

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank art patrons that have supported my love for art in the past and have fueled my desires for the future. I hope I can instill the same love, commitment, and pleasure I have felt for art in my fellow art patrons.It is with great passion that I am announcing my 2012 workshops.
The workshops will start 1/30/12 and are held once a week with four hour sessions:
• Portrait: Monday (start 1/30/12) 1 - 5 pm
• Still Life: Thursday (start 2/2/12) 1 - 5 pm
• Plein Air: Saturday (start 2/4/12) 12 - 4 pm ( different location each time)
The fee for the workshops are:
10 sessions (40 hours of instruction);
$300 - registration required
1 session (4 hours of instruction):
$40 - drop-in without registration

Award-winning artist Calvin Liang will be teaching with a focus on painting on location from direct observation. Plein air painting is a foundational part of training the eye to better understand the concepts of composition, design, and color harmony.
Lessons will include:
• Planning the most effective composition for the individual artist’s preferences
• Learning to better see and use warm and cool color in landscape
* Commanding hardness and softness of the edges to create space in a painting
* Simplifying the subject through the use of basic design, value, color, and drawing skills
* Reasons for different paint surface textures and brushstroke direction over the forms.
