David Lussier 5 Day Workshop in Monhegan Island, Maine
The main focus of the week will be on key ways to see your subject in simple terms. Since simplification paves the way for more personal expression, we want this to be a goal for each student. Proper ways to secure a solid composition & block- in, color & values and understanding your light source will all be discussed and demonstrated on a daily basis. Group critiques every afternoon help to cement goals and offer new ideas for personal exploration.

We will meet each morning at 8:45 at various painting spots within the small fishing village. David will demo each morning followed by a full day of painting and instruction. One day we will venture to paint the back of the island at the headlands & coves.

Award winning California painter, Randall Sexton, returns to New England after 25 years on the West Coast to lead this fifth year of plein air painting in southern Vermont.

The workshop will cover the fundamentals of plein air painting and is open to all beginning, intermediate and advanced painters. Various techniques for strengthning composition, color mixing, and brush handling will be discussed. Demonstrations and critiques will be supplemented by individual assistance.
