Plein Air Pastel and Oil Workshop in Croatia

Join Steve for his 3rd painting tour on the lovely Island of Korcula. The tour begins and ends in Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with an informative guided city tour by an expert local. We will also travel together to the island and spend 10 days painting around stunning seaside sites, while enjoying the finest foods, house pressed olive oil and wines, with multi-course, nightly dinners at our B&B in Lumbarda. Breakst at B&B include and sack lunches accompany us to painting sites! Cap your painting day off with a swim in the Adriatic before dinner and sleep well afterwards at this lovely accommodation, within 300 feet of the bay below. Croatia is loaded with lots of old colorful wooden boats, casting deep turquoise shadows in the Adriatic Sea. We also take a one day private boat excursion to a nearby island (monastery) to paint and a water taxi the last day at Dubrovnik. Steve provides expert help and instruction via live demos (pastels and oils) at the numerous seaside and mountain villages on this large island. All meals, ground transportation and accommodations are included in one low price ($2600 Canadian) for 10 full days – including farewell lunch and dinner out, the last day in Dubrovnik! Lynda Milina, our experienced Croatian/Canadian tour guide, makes the trip so-o easy and fun for all workshop participants. Non artist travelling companions also welcome at a reduced rate. If this is your first painting class then be sure to come ready to jump right in and paint! Each weekly class is different with a unique painting lesson or a specific painting exercise that will help you build a foundation of skills. Everyone wants to paint a pretty picture, but without first learning essential painting skills the pretty picture simply won't happen. Topics include: color mixing, creating shape using value, composition, focal point, color harmony, paint application, brushwork, selecting a subject, finding your own voice as a painter and more.

Class size is limited so that I can give each student individual attention. Each week we will work either from a photograph or from life. In class I teach an Impressionist style of painting, working wet into wet paint.

Cost: $160 per month
Location: Cannery Paints, 416 31st St., Newport Beach, CA 92663

"Spring Out" Plein Air Tuesdays
Kristen Olson

8 Tuesdays "en plein air" beginning April 12th, 2016 in the Bay Area with Kristen Olson

Join me this spring for session 1 and learn how to paint a wide variety of landscapes.  Throughout the classes,  I will teach you painting techniques and how to "see as an artist".

You will gain confidence as you learn how to approach a wide variety of landscapes such as farms, gardens, beaches, sea cliffs, architecture and reflections so that you can go out and paint whatever your heart desires.

This is a plein air workshop so we will be painting outside at a different location each Tuesday.
The class includes both painting demonstrations as well as individual instruction which will be personalized to the level of each artist.  Class size will be kept small to ensure that each student gets a lot of individual help at their easel.

Plein air painting is a great way to experience the outdoors and express your love for the landscape.  I find that the practice of painting outdoors on a regular basis breathes life into your studio work and creates a space for you to think more creatively about what to paint.  It lets you "experience your world through paint".

We will meet at various locations around San Jose, if you need accommodations, let me know.  Sometimes we travel to locations that are difficult to get around.
The locations schedule for all classes will be emailed to registered students in March.
This class is open to all levels of artists including beginners and to all mediums, demonstrations will be primarily in oil.

The cost is $320.00 for all classes, you can register for this class with a $100.00 deposit, to register, visit the workshops page at
KristenOlson.net
email me at
Kristenpaints@gmail.com for availability and a supply list.

This class will meet from 10am-1pm on Tuesdays
The 8 Class dates for this session are:
April 12, 19, 26
May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
