The Mission San Juan Capistrano recently completed a 3.3 million dollar Front Gate Restoration project, and Louise Lopina was asked to do the Official Painting of the new Gate House. An image of her oil painting was given a “1920’s” look for the commemorative posters she signed at the March 5, 2013 Opening Day ceremony. Her painting now hangs at the Gate House entry to the Mission grounds and is part of their permanent collection. www.louiselopina.com
Newly-selected LPAPA Signature member Rick J. Delanty has also been elected to Signature Membership in the International Society of Acrylic Painters, with the acceptance of his painting “River of Delights” into the 16th Annual International Exhibition. Larry Cannon will have two plein air paintings exhibited in the upcoming En Plein Air: An International Art Exhibition - A Tribute to Charles Reifel. The exhibit is sponsored by the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild, and opens on February 20 at the L-Street Gallery of Fine Art in San Diego. Jurors for the exhibit were Jean Stern (Director of the Irvine Museum) and Charles Petersen (Senior Curator of American Art, San Diego Museum of Art 1957-1996) and author of the two highly respected books on Plein Air Painters of California: The Southland & The Northland.
