Plein Air paintings on Exhibition
Paintings will be on exhibit at the Laguna Art Museum and available for purchase.

This October, sixty of the finest plein air painters in the country will travel to Laguna Beach, California to participate in the 8th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational, the most prestigious event of its kind in the nation. From October 8 through the 15, they will paint the picturesque canyons and coastline in and around Laguna Beach. Their best works will be displayed at the much anticipated Collectors Dinner and Preview Sale held at Laguna Art Museum on Saturday evening, October 14, during which time collectors will have the first opportunity to purchase works of art created by the participating artists. The annual Invitational is hosted by Laguna Art Museum and The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and benefits both organizations and the artists, showcasing the artistic skills of the invited artists as they work outdoors, en plein air.

The event will begin at noon on Sunday, October 8, in Treasure Island Park, immediately adjacent to Montage Resort and Spa, where once again the artists will kick off the week-long invitational event painting the famous Laguna Beach coastline to the delight of hundreds of spectators. The works of art created at this event will be on display and for sale at the Museum.

The next day artists will begin to fan out to identify scenes to render in oil, acrylic, pastel or watercolors. For art and nature lovers alike, the Invitational offers a unique opportunity for first-hand observation.

Art lovers are invited to participate by watching the artists at their easels through the week. This adds to a particularly unique and educational week in which the general public has the opportunity to meet the artists and watch them at work.

With the exception of the Collectors Dinner on the evening of October 14, the week-long event is free to the public.
