Each year the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and Laguna Art Museum team up for the always-exciting Annual Plein Air Invitational. The top 50 plein air artists are invited to participate in this special fundraiser which is a week-long celebration of painting the Laguna Beach landscape.
.
In recognition of Laguna Beach’s renowned landscape and marine environment, the 13th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational endeavors to support the important role plein air painters play in depicting and creating awareness about endangered landscapes in a time of climate change and other environmental threats. This year’s Invitational has adopted “Sea, Sage, and Sustainability” as its theme. With the importance of these environmental issues in mind, we will be providing our members and guests an enhanced ability for to further appreciate our magnificent landscapes and seascapes during their visit.

Quick Draw and Silent Auction (10:00 am – 1:00 pm)
The 13th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational week will kick off on Sunday, October 9, 2011 with an exciting Quick Draw in Heisler Park immediately followed by a silent auction at Laguna Art Museum.

Overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the cliffs adjacent to Laguna Art Museum in Heisler Park, and under the gaze of hundreds of onlookers, the participating plein air artists will have only two hours to complete a work of art. The Quick Draw paintings are then immediately moved to Laguna Art Museum and offered in an exciting silent auction which was attended by over 300 eager guests and collectors in 2010.

This event is a great opportunity for discerning collectors to purchase one of the paintings that they had just moments before watched being created.
